TSMC Begins Mass Production of 1.4nm Chips
Taiwan Semiconductor has commenced volume production of its N14 process node, achieving transistor densities previously thought impossible and setting the stage for next-generation devices.
TSMC has officially entered mass production on its revolutionary 1.4-nanometer process technology. The N14 node delivers a 35% improvement in performance and 40% reduction in power consumption compared to the current leading-edge 2nm process.
The breakthrough relies on a new gate-all-around nanosheet transistor architecture combined with backside power delivery. Apple, Qualcomm, and NVIDIA are among the first customers expected to tape out designs on the new process.
This development reinforces Taiwan's critical role in the global semiconductor supply chain and enables new categories of edge AI devices that can run sophisticated models locally.
