BMC proposes theatre tax hike; state nod awaited, old rates continue for now

The BMC's plan to adjust theatre tax rates is currently under review by the Urban Development Department. As they await a decision, the existing tax for cinema exhibitions will not change. The revisions being considered could see multiplex taxes climb to Rs 400 per show for air-conditioned venues, while rates for non-AC cinemas and stage plays will also be updated.
