Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 2026 · SkyNext Media

1. Privacy by Design

At The Next Journal (operated by SkyNext Media), reader privacy is foundational. We do not sell your personal data, we do not employ invasive cross-site advertising trackers, and we restrict data handling to the minimum necessary to provide a high-signal news experience.

2. Information We Collect

We collect limited information depending on how you use the platform:

  • Email Subscriptions & Accounts: If you subscribe to The Next Brief newsletter or sign in via passwordless magic link, we securely store your email address. It is used solely for newsletter delivery and account authentication.
  • Local Device Storage: Preferences such as interface theme (dark/light), regional edition, saved dispatches, and audio settings are saved locally on your device via localStorage. This data never leaves your device for monetization.
  • Anonymous Engagement Metrics: We collect non-identifiable telemetry (such as aggregate page views, scroll read-throughs, and browser categories) to maintain platform health and prevent bot abuse.
  • Web Push Tokens: If you explicitly opt in to breaking news alerts, your browser generates an anonymous push endpoint. You can revoke push notification permission at any time through your browser settings.

3. Third-Party Integrations & Publication Sync

We collaborate with trusted publishing and infrastructure providers under strict privacy standards:

  • Google Publisher Center & Subscribe with Google (SwG Basic): We integrate with Google's publication platform (Product ID: CAownufHDA:openaccess) to sync verification and support reader access according to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Sign-In: Allows secure OAuth 2.0 authentication without storing passwords on our servers.
  • Financial Market Feeds: Live market metrics are retrieved server-side via financial APIs (e.g. Finnhub) without transmitting reader identifiers.
  • Email Dispatch: Transactional emails and editorial digests are sent via authenticated SMTP over encrypted TLS connections.

4. Cookies & Tracking

We do not use third-party tracking pixels or behavioral profiling cookies. We only use functional session cookies when required for authenticated reader sessions.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & Global Compliance)

All readers enjoy full control over their personal data:

  • Access & Portability: You may request a record of any data associated with your email address.
  • Erasure: You can request immediate, permanent deletion of your account and subscriber records.
  • One-Click Unsubscribe: Every edition of our newsletter contains an immediate, direct unsubscribe link.

6. Security & Encryption

All web traffic is enforced over HTTPS (TLS 1.3). We implement strict Content Security Policy (CSP), HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), and secure database storage.

7. Children's Privacy

The Next Journal is a general audience news service and does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 13 years of age.
