CM Vijay presents cash incentives to WorldSkills Competition medallists, participants from Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister Vijay awarded cash incentives to the medallists and participants from Tamil Nadu who represented India at the WorldSkills Competition. The delegation included 12 competitors from Tamil Nadu out of a total Indian team of 70 across 63 skill categories.

The WorldSkills Competition, a global event that showcases vocational talent in a wide range of technical and creative fields, saw a strong Indian presence this year. Seventy Indian competitors took part in 63 different skill categories, ranging from automotive technology to digital design. Among them, twelve athletes hailed from Tamil Nadu, reflecting the state's growing emphasis on skill development programs in schools and technical institutes. Their participation highlighted the region's commitment to preparing young people for high‑skill occupations that are in demand both domestically and abroad.
In a ceremony held at the state secretariat, Chief Minister Vijay presented cash awards to the Tamil Nadu medallists and to all participants who had qualified for the competition. While the exact amounts were not disclosed, the incentives are part of a broader government effort to encourage excellence in vocational training and to reward those who bring recognition to the state on an international stage. The chief minister emphasized that such financial support serves as a tangible acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication required to compete at this level.
The awards are expected to have a ripple effect on the state's youth, many of whom are exploring career paths beyond traditional academic routes. By publicly recognizing skill‑based achievements, the government hopes to inspire more students to enroll in technical courses and apprenticeship programs. This aligns with Tamil Nadu's ongoing strategy to bridge the gap between education and industry needs, thereby enhancing employability and supporting economic growth in sectors that rely on skilled labor.
