German aerospace startup Isar Aerospace successfully launched its Spectrum rocket into low Earth orbit from a spaceport in Norway, recovering from a failed test flight earlier this year. The two-stage launch vehicle reached orbital velocity, proving out the company's proprietary propulsion and structural designs.
This success marks the first time a European private entity has achieved commercial orbital capability from European soil. The achievement provides European satellite operators with a local alternative during a time of intense global launch capacity constraints.
