Kollam gets its first exclusive Aadhaar Seva Kendra
Kollam has opened its first exclusive Aadhaar Seva Kendra, becoming the sixth such centre in Kerala. The facility offers residents a dedicated space to complete enrolment and related services, improving access to the national identity system.

The Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Kollam represents the latest effort by the Government of India to provide a dedicated space for citizens to complete enrolment, update details and access authentication services linked to the world’s largest biometric identification system. Aadhaar, which assigns a unique 12‑digit number to residents based on demographic and biometric data, has become a cornerstone for welfare distribution, banking and digital services across the country. Kerala, known for its high literacy rate and proactive public service delivery, has already opened five exclusive centres in other districts, and the Kollam centre marks the sixth such facility in the state.
The new centre, located in a modern building equipped with secure servers and privacy‑focused design, allows residents to avoid long queues at general service points and receive assistance from trained staff. It offers services such as new enrolment, correction of demographic errors, and generation of electronic authentication codes that can be used for online transactions. By centralising these functions, the centre aims to reduce processing time, improve data accuracy and enhance trust among users who rely on Aadhaar for subsidies, pension payments and identity verification.
For people living in Kollam and surrounding areas, the exclusive Aadhaar Seva Kendra simplifies access to essential services that affect daily life, from receiving agricultural subsidies to opening bank accounts without physical documentation. The facility also supports the state’s broader digital agenda, which seeks to integrate more citizens into online platforms for education, health and governance. As more districts adopt similar centres, the model could serve as a benchmark for other Indian states looking to streamline identity‑related processes and reduce bureaucratic delays.
