Massive Rescue Operation Underway as Ferry Capsizes in Indonesia, 129 Missing
Indonesian search and rescue teams have launched a major maritime effort to locate 129 missing passengers after a ferry capsized in rough seas. Over 600 emergency responders are battling severe weather conditions near the site of the disaster.
Indonesian authorities have deployed hundreds of rescue personnel and specialized marine craft to locate 129 people missing after a vessel capsized off the archipelago's coast. Heavy storms and high sea swells have complicated rescue operations, forcing teams to navigate extremely hazardous conditions.
Disaster response officials reported that over 600 emergency workers, including naval personnel and local fishing volunteers, are scouring surrounding waters for survivors. Overloaded passenger transport and sudden maritime weather shifts remain persistent hazards across Indonesia's vast island network.
Investigators are expected to examine passenger manifests and vessel safety standards once immediate search and rescue priorities are concluded.
