Pink Line elevated corridor likely to be inaugurated on November 15: CM
The Karnataka chief minister announced that the 7.5‑kilometre Pink Line elevated corridor in Bangalore is likely to be inaugurated on November 15. The line received safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety, moving it closer to public operation.
The Pink Line, an elevated segment of Bangalore's metro network connecting Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere, has completed a critical safety inspection conducted by the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety. The clearance confirms that the infrastructure, signaling systems, and emergency protocols meet national standards for passenger transport. Following this approval, the state government has set a tentative inauguration date of November 15, pending final operational tests and staff training.
The 7.5‑kilometre corridor is expected to serve thousands of commuters daily, linking residential neighborhoods with commercial hubs and reducing reliance on road traffic. By providing a fast, reliable alternative to buses and private vehicles, the line aims to ease congestion on major arterial roads such as Hosur Road and Bannerghatta Road. Planners anticipate that the new service will cut travel times by up to 30 minutes for riders traveling between the southern and eastern parts of the city.
Bangalore's rapid urban growth has placed increasing pressure on its transport infrastructure, prompting authorities to expand the metro system as a core component of the city's long‑term mobility plan. The Pink Line complements existing routes and will integrate with future extensions that target emerging suburbs. Successful launch of this corridor could encourage further investment in public transit projects, supporting the state's broader goals of reducing pollution and improving urban livability.
