From October 15, ‘use-by date’ mandatory on sweets in UP, including loose sweets

From October 15, 2026, sweet sellers in Uttar Pradesh must display the use-by dates on all sweets. This requirement aims to enhance consumer awareness about product freshness and safety. The Food Safety and Drug Administration found many consumers lack clear date information for loose sweets. Different types of sweets will have varying shelf lives ranging between one to thirty days.
