Smallholder farmers depend heavily on local vendors for both products and advisory guidance, yet these storefronts frequently vanish between growing seasons due to cash flow pressures. Institutional lenders view the agricultural retail sector as high risk, restricting the working capital necessary for dealers to maintain steady inventory levels. Compounding this friction is the prevalence of counterfeit products in unregulated markets, which destroys consumer confidence whenever crops fail following fertilizer application. Consequently, overall adoption rates stagnate far below regional targets, directly depressing crop yields and locking rural communities into cycles of food insecurity. Without targeted micro-credit facilities and rigorous quality control enforcement, supply chain fragility will continue to undermine agrarian reform efforts.
