SCR running 700-plus special trains to handle Dasara, Diwali and Chhath Puja rush
South Central Railway is operating over 700 special trains to manage the high passenger volume during the Dasara, Diwali, and Chhath Puja festivals. The railway has also deployed additional staff and facilities to improve the travel experience for commuters.

South Central Railway (SCR) has launched a massive operational plan to handle the surge in passenger traffic expected during the upcoming festival season. The railway zone will run more than 700 special trains to accommodate travelers returning home for Dasara, Diwali, and Chhath Puja. This significant increase in train services is a response to the traditional peak in travel demand that occurs during these major religious and cultural celebrations across the region.
To support the additional trains and manage the crowded stations, SCR has implemented several customer service enhancements. Extra ticket counters have been set up at busy stations to reduce waiting times for passengers purchasing tickets. Furthermore, the railway has ensured that Automatic Ticket Vending Machines are fully operational and well-stocked. These measures aim to streamline the ticketing process and minimize congestion at the stations during the peak travel hours.
In a move to enhance safety and comfort, SCR has specifically deployed women staff to assist female passengers. This initiative is designed to provide a more secure and supportive environment for women traveling during the festive rush. By addressing specific passenger needs and improving infrastructure readiness, the railway aims to ensure a smoother and more pleasant journey for millions of commuters during this busy period.
